Timeless

Wall clockDid the decorator think a clock was a bad idea for a place where people do a lot of waiting?

I’m at the embassy to renew my passport. We are a handful waiting our turns. Most have a story to tell the bureaucrat: travel next week, no permanent residence in France, visas to transfer.

There is a fellow citizen more concerned with the time than myself. Our phones are with security and everyone is now aware of the decorator’s choice.

Another citizen, who has lost all his papers, is filling out forms at a terminal. He reads out the time the computer is reporting.

Situation normal; The only voices come from the area with the bullet-proof glass.

Time goes by more quickly when it’s not measured.
