Quote of the Day

Let’s understand that things are thieves of time because the more things you have, the more time you have to spend working to pay for them, the more your life is chained to a rhythm of perpetual purchase.

  1. My daughter just had her sixth birthday party. Of course we got her presents, but in lieu of presents from her friends that came to her party, we requested they bring food to donate to the local food bank. She’d seen it before at her big sisters party, and she was happy to do something nice for others, and she learned a little bit about giving instead of receiving and being the center of the universe. She doesn’t need anymore Disney princess stuff. No one does.

    1. Teaching values early counts for so much. My daughter was telling me she can’t remember when I told her about taking responsibility for her actions, it’s just something she’s grown up with. She is now 16 and I honestly do not worry about what she’s up to – almost concerned that it’s not enough.
